GETTING TO RAJASTHAN, AROUND & AWAY
Rajasthan is accessible by air, road and rail.
By Air -
The nearest international airport to Rajasthan is Indira
Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Onward flights
are available from the domestic Palam Airport near to
the international airport to the key cities of Rajasthan
but it will be better to start your trip in Rajasthan
from Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.
By Road -
Delhi is well connected to Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur,
Bikaner etc. in Rajasthan. You can take a luxurious
bus trip to Jaipur and from there plan your trip inside
Rajasthan. Overnight or day time buses are well available
from Delhi.
By Train -
Jaipur is main Station in Rajasthan and it is connected
by train route from all over India. other cities like
Jodhpur, Udaipur etc are also well connected by Train.
Getting Around -
Major cities of Rajasthan such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur
are well connected by domestic airlines such as Indian
Airlines, Jet Airways, Sahara Airways etc and have regular
flights from one city to another city. One can also
opt for railways as this network is superb. Almost all
major cities and even towns can be reached by trains.
If one follows certain dos and don'ts, train travel
is a fun and the best and the cheapest way to explore
Rajasthan. To visit the interior villages and smaller
towns one has to hire private car/vehicle and a driver
after arriving at any major city by train.
One can also opt for luxurious, air-conditioned
buses to travel from one city to another. Most of the
times these buses will ply in the nights and reach any
destination city in the mornings.
Note - Please do not take and local buses as
these are notorious for getting late and for having
no time schedule.
