PLACES OF TOURIST INTEREST
IN AND AROUND JAIPUR
Amer Fort -
Situated at about 11-kms from Jaipur stands the Amer
Fort complex. This fort showcases the exquisite blend
of Mughal and Hindu architecture. Originally the building
up work was started by King Man Singh 1 and was completed
by Jai singh. The royal apartments that lie inside the
massive Amer Fort complex includes some of the prominent
architectural marvels. The private chambers of the queens
with windows having latticed screen and also the Hall
of Mirrors are worth witnessing in the fort.
Jaigarh Fort -
It is one of the few military structures of medieval
India preserved so intact. It has palaces, granary,
several temples, a watch tower, cannon foundry inside
it.
Nahargarh Fort -
This fort is built on the top of a picturesque hill
and offers the view of the Jaipur city. It was built
by king Sawai Jai singh in 1734 A.D. ad was enlarged
and given the present shape by Sawai Madho Singh in
1885 A.D.
Hawa Mahal -
Built in the year 1799, the Hawa Mahal or Palace on
the Winds, is one of the major landmarks of Jaipur.
This five storeyed building is an example of the marvel
of the Rajput artistry. With its pink semi octagonal
and delicately honeycombed sandstone windows this palac
just looks wonderful.
The Palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh
and is a part of the City Palace Complex.
In other important places of tourist
interest in Jaipur are Gaitor, City Palace, Jantar Mantar,
Jal Mahal, Central Museum etc.
