Business Visa - A foreigner can obtain visa from
an Indian embassy abroad. A multiple entry visa is valid
for 5 years, provided he/ she wishes to come for some
business. Foreigners of Indian origin can obtain a 5
year multiple entry visas for business, to meet their
relatives etc.
Student visa - A student visa
can be obtained from the Indian embassy on the production
of proof of admission and means of sustenance while
in India. The visa is valid for one year but can be
extended in India for the
duration of the course.
Conference visa - Delegates
coming to attend International conferences in India
can be granted conference visa to cover the conference
as well as for tourism in India. Delegates are advised
to apply to Indian Embassies well in advance.
All personal object which you need are free from duty
i.e personal jewellery, one pair of binocular, one portable
musical instrument, one camera with 12 film magazines
or five rolls of film, one mini camera with two reels
of film, one video camera, one record player with ten
records, one transistor, one portable cassette player,
one portable typewriter, as well as presents to the
value of Rs.500/-.
Perfumes,
cosmetics etc are allowed but larger items like video
cameras are likely to be entered on a " Tourist
baggage Re-export & quot; form to ensure that the item
is take back on departure. This form has to be re- submitted
on departure.
Certain
types of weapons are forbidden, and for those types
which are allowed a possession licence is required.
Income tax clearance
If a foreigner intends to stay in the country for more
than 120 days, an " income tax clearance"
certificate is required at the time of leaving the country.
This
certificate proves that the person's stay in India was
financed by his own money and by working or selling
his goods.
Foreign
section of the income tax department at Delhi, Bangalore
(Mumbai), Calcutta(Kolkata) and Madras(Chennai) issue
this certificate on showing the passport, visa and the
currency exchange receipts.
Foreign Travel Tax
All the travelers from Indian airports to neighbouring
countries Rs.500/- per person.
All
the travelers from Indian airports to all other countries
Rs.300/- per person.
